Collection: Rusty Studio

Rusty Studio is the creative world of Russell Hall, an artist and illustrator with a background in fine art and advertising, and a lifelong love of vintage comics and annuals.

Born from lockdown sketching sessions and inspired by the family dog Toki, Russell developed the Rascals: a mischievous cast of characters — including Yoki the dog and Neko the cat — captured getting up to playful antics. Shared on Instagram, the characters quickly found a following and grew into a popular range of risograph-printed greeting cards. Printed in-house on the studio's risograph machine, the cards use minimal colours and graded tones to capture the nostalgic charm of 1950s comics.

Toki the Border Terrier remains both Russell's biggest inspiration and his most devoted fan.

Russell holds an MA in Children's Book Illustration from Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, UK.
