Rusty Studio

 

Rusty Studio is the creation of Petra's husband, Russell Hall… Artist, illustrator, and recent MA graduate in Children’s book illustration with a lifelong passion for vintage annual and comics (and an impressive collection to match). 

Born out of lockdown sketching sessions and inspired by Toki, the beloved family dog, Russell developed the mischievous Rascals — a humorous cast of characters that found their way onto a range of greeting cards, created in collaboration with established UK brand Petra Boase.

Printed on the studio risograph machines, the minimal colours and graded tones add a nostalgic charm so reminiscent of those 1950s comics.

With fresh ideas always in the works and plenty of exciting projects on the horizon, this is just the beginning. Watch this space!
