Easter Bakes & Makes

Here are some fun Easter bakes that would look great in the pattern paper bags and our DIY paper bunny bags. Why not make an Origami bunny as little (non chocolate) Easter gift too with our Riso printed pattern origami papers.

Its the season of sweet indulgence and here a few of my favourite treats!

There’s always so much fun to have with the humble shortbread recipe.

Ingredients -

  • 125g/4oz unsalted butter, softened
  • 55g/2oz caster sugar, plus extra to finish
  • 180g/6oz plain flour

Combine all the ingredients to form a dough. Heat oven 190c/170c Fan/Gas. Bake for 15-20 minutes, keep an eye on them as you don't want them to brown.

Once cooled all these biscuits can be iced and decorated, dipped in chocolate or left plain (the way I like them!).If you are popping them in the DIY Bunny Bags leave to cool first and wrap in a small piece of parchment paper.

Bunny Biscuits -

Roll out the dough approx 1cm thick and cut out the bunnys. Add the face details with the round end of a chop stick for the eyes and the end of a teaspoon for the mouth. Chill in the fridge for 15mins before baking.

Spotty Egg Biscuits -

Make a batch of the above dough. Use ¼ of the dough to make a selection of coloured dough for the spots, use food colour gel and remember you don’t need much!

Roll the plain dough to 1cm thick. Cut out the circles using a different sizes if you have the cutters, and fill with the same size circle cut from the colour dough. Once you have completed the spotty dough very gently roil it and pop in the fridge to chill for about 15 minutes. Remove from the fridge and cut out the egg shapes and bake!

Marble Egg Biscuits -

Keep the excess dough from the spotty biscuit dough and gently roll it back into a ball, you don’t want to overwork it as you will loose the marble pattern. Roll it out 1cm thick and cut out the shapes, chill in the fridge for 15 minutes, then bake!!

I bought the shape cutters from Cutting About

If you are a brownie baker why not place some mini eaggs on the batter before baking.

Flower Power Sarnies -

The softest white slice bread, chocolate spread and a mini egg centre, the ultimate Easter sarnie!

Spring Flower Power Pie

I made this chicken and leak pie using Hot water pastry and it’s a game changer! The best part is decorating the top! we have friends and family for Easter and I’ve just ordered individual pie tins to make everyone their very own Easter pie!
