How to Make a Colourful Paper Bow

A colourful bow can completely transform a wrapped present. Instead of grabbing a shop-bought one, we love adding a bit of homemade magic - it feels more thoughtful and far more fun. Plus, it’s much easier than it looks.

In a few simple steps, we’ll show you how to make a simple Christmas bow using one of our patterned paper bags. It’s inexpensive, quick and easy, and adds that little extra something to your gifts under the tree.

You will need: One patterned paper bag ( and one for cutting up to make the tail or use other colour paper | scissors | glue stick

1. Prep your pieces
Open up the paper bag and cut it into 8 equal strips using the folds as a guide. Trim about 4 cm off four of the strips (and keep those little offcuts—you’ll use them later!).

2. Make the loops
Take a strip and glue the ends together to make a circle. Add a dab of glue inside the circle and fold it over so it becomes an 8 shape. Repeat until you have 4 large and 4 smaller 8 shapes

3. Build your bow
Add glue to the centre of each 8 shape and layer them one on top of another - big ones first, smaller ones on top.

4. Add the centre
Roll one of the leftover pieces of paper into a tiny loop and stick it right in the middle to finish the bow.

5. Make the “tails”
Cut two more strips from the remaining paper, the same width as before. Glue them together at the top to make a V-shape, then snip out a small V at each end. Stick this to the back of your bow.

And that’s it! Pop it onto a beautifully wrapped present and ta da! Trust us, once you’ve made one, you won’t want to stop.

Sweetest Gift Bags

We might be biased but the bags make the sweetest packaging for smaller gifts espcially when paired with our pattern eco tapes.
