Christmas Biscuits & Baking - Gift Ideas

I love gifting edible gifts and who doesn’t love receiving them! Wrapped in decorative paper or popped in a re-usable jar, they are the type of Christmas gift that wont hang around for long.

Here are some ideas on what to bake this Christmas...

1. Colourful Shortbreads

I have been itching to make pattern shortbreads for a while but replacing the cocoa powder with food colouring. To bake yours with a colourful pattern too, simply use a standard shortbread recipe and choose your Gel food colouring of choice. For each style of biscuit you will need an equal part of colour and plain dough.

2. Cinnamon Star Biscuits

Anja Dunks ADVENT book is a real treat, and every year I make her amazing Cinnamon star biscuits (I used a Christmas tree cutter). They are deliciously chewy, and get demolished pretty quickly in our household.

3. Christmas Cake

When it comes to Christmas cake, Delia Smith’s rich fruit cake recipe is my absolute favourite.

To decorate the Christmas cake you can use both traditional and quirky cake toppers, coloured royal icing or even make your own frilly paper cake wrap.
